Unbeatable Sukamuljo and Gideon are out of Malaysia Open after losing to Chinese duo.
The Indonesian super-duo Sukamuljo and Gideon have by far been the best men’s double in the world for quite some time. But the duo is beginning to show they aren’t unbeatable. During this year’s Thomas Cup they showed signs of weakness, and today they lost after just 30 minutes of play.
Looking at the score they actually didn’t stand a chance against He and Tan from China. The Indonesian duo got off to a great start, but after a 6-1 lead, the Chinese got a hold of the game and crushed the Indonesian.
21-17,21-11 the game ended after just half an hour. It’s been a while since we’ve seen Sukamuljo and Gideon in such a convincing loss.
It should be interesting to follow them next week, when they are to play in front of their home crowd. They must be top motivated to take the title in Indonesia, but are they capable of that?
Momota eases into the Semi’s
After a tough start to the tournament, it looks like Kento Momota has become more comfortable in Malaysia. Today he took a convincing win against 6. seed Tien Chen Chou, winning by 21-19, 21-11.
Despite he is not seeded, Momota must be considered to be top favorite to win in Malaysia this year.
