It’s been a tough day for the Chinese single players. First Chen Long had to leave the tournament early and then Lin Dan suffered a loss against Indian Prannoy.
Like his compatriot Chen Long, Lin Dan is having some difficulties performing on top level at the moment. Today he left Indonesia Open in the first round as he lost to H.S. Prannoy from India by 21-15 9-21 21-14.
On paper the Indian was favorite to win the match as he is seeded to reach a quarterfinal whereas Lin Dan had no seeding. But the common opinion was, that Lin Dan was favorite before this match.
But H.S. Prannoy, who didn’t play in Malaysia last week performed very well and could raise his arms in victory after 1 hour on court.
He will face Wang from Taipei in the second round.
Axelsen ready for the second round
In the first round, world number 1 Viktor Axelsen was up against home favorite Jonatan Christie. But the world Champion proved to be a tough challenge for the Indonesian.
Axelsen got off to brilliant start and won the first set by 21-10. In the second set, Christie was leading throughout the set until the end, where Axelsen finally caught up. At the score 19-19, Axelsen showed confidence and killer-instinct and decided the match 21-19.
Tomorrow he will play against Verma from India.
