The most prestigious tournament of the year begins in just 13 days. Today, the draw was announced. We have collected all you need to know right here about the draw in the men’s single.
Kento Momota to face Chong Wei in the semi’s.
All players in the top ten are in the draw for the men’s single. Possibly the best player at the moment, Kento Momota, are to be found in the bottom half of the draw.
The Japanese has improved his world ranking recently and is seeded 6th at the WC. The draw reveals, if the seeding holds up, that Momota will face Son Wan Ho in the Quarterfinal, before facing either Lee Chong Wei or Srikanth Kidambi in the Semifinal.
3 Chinese and a Dane in the top half
In the top half we’ll find the defending champion and world number one Viktor Axelsen. The Dane reached the final in Indonesia, where he lost to Kento Momota. In the Semifinal at the Indonesia open he won against Shi Yuqi, which will be his opponent at WC semifinal, if the seeding holds up.
In a potential quarterfinal, the Dane is seeded to face Chen Long, who had very weak performances at both Malaysia Open and Indonesia Open. But is the Chinese ready for the WC?
For Shi Yuqi to reach the Semi’s he has to get past his countryman Lin Dan already in the third round and possibly Chou Tien Chen in the quarterfinal.
